This week we have three new wide releases… supposedly. Two of them are definite, that being Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man and the Sony comedy One of Them Days, but Paramount is supposed to expand the critically-acclaimed September 5 wide, and other awards contenders could try to sneak into more theaters, such as the Golden Globe-winning The Brutalist. Unfortunately, the studios doing these platform releases are being skittish about sharing theater counts, a trend that has gotten quite frustrating over the past few months and doesn’t allow the type of accuracy of information that I prefer.
