THE WEEKEND WARRIOR Early Edition 11/29/24 (Thanksgiving!)

Box office analysis and predictions for Disney's Moana 2

This is the second weekend of me trying the “paid” Weekend Warrior experiment, and of course, it’s Thanksgiving weekend, which has been the bane of my existence since I first began writing about the box office over 23 years ago. The problem is that schools will let out early on Wednesday, basically acting like a Friday and then Thanksgiving Day can involve some moviegoing with the fam, though that’s normally saved until Black Friday and the weekend, which totally throws off most analysis and calculations since some movies can be frontloaded compared to others. Thankfully, we only have one new wide release this Thanksgiving, but that’s on top of two impressive openers from this past weekend. (I also used to have a comprehensive chart of every Thanksgiving wide release with the internal mults, but that’s on some old computer/harddrive that’s no longer accessible, although those numbers would be useful to have right now.)
