While entertainment will always be subjective there does seem to be a disconnect from what a "professional" critic/reviewer thinks of a film vs the actual audience. Its the one good thing about RT is that it allows those who check out the site to decide between the 2 who to trust with the scores.

In this case Edward hates Terrifier 3 but lauds In a Violent Nature. But when looking at the scores the audience hates IAVN and for good reason. Its a boring slogfest and despite some nice kill scenes its hardly more entertaining that Terrifier 3 and Art is certainly more entertaining than the killer in IAVN.

While i tend to like films that take risks IAVN doesnt really do that and it takes forever to get to anything remotely interesting in the film. Its just god awfully bad. This is why one should generally go with the audience score 9 times out of 10 for a film vs the other. Critics often overthink to the point of pretentiousness when applying their critiques but more times than not miss the entire point of the film itself.

When it comes to horror you either "get it" or you dont. Douglas clearly does not get it but he is entitled to his opinion as anyone is. It is good news however the most of the other reviewers both professionally and via actual audience understand what Leone is doing even if the film is far from perfect. People will wonder why i bothered to write all this as opposed to responding to another critic of Terrifier 3 and it comes down to this quote in his review.

"Terrifier 3 seems to exist merely to fill the bloodlust in a certain sector of horror fans that I absolutely detest. We already live in a horribly cruel world, so a movie that deliberately tries to pass off wanton violence as entertainment – not to mention setting it during a holiday that many people take pleasure in – is just plain disgusting."

Its one thing to simply dislike a film (again subjective) but its another thing entirely to mock or insult audiences that do enjoy said film. When you take it upon yourself to attack those who enjoy something you dont you come across as pretentious and arrogant. Attacking the audience has zero to do with the film and stooping that low is just, frankly embarrassing.

People don't talk about how hilarious SUCCESSION is. I recommend watching with the subtitles to catch every one liner. Also, there's a fascinating series of in-universe movies they reference -- the Waystar Royco company is responsible for some Transformers-type franchise called Kalispitron, and I cracked up every time they mentioned it.
